The Maldives

The Maldives, a necklace of over 1,000 coral islands in the Indian Ocean, sets the stage for a honeymoon that’s nothing short of extraordinary. It has been one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in the world for years. As the well established place for honeymoon, there’re plenty of romantic hotels and all inclusive options for newlyweds.

When is the best time to visit the Maldives?

Dry Season (December to April): This period is considered the high season for tourism in the Maldives. You can expect plenty of sunshine, minimal rainfall, and calm seas. The weather is typically dry and warm, making it an ideal time for water activities such as snorkeling, diving, and boat excursions. Keep in mind that this is the peak tourist season, so popular resorts may be more crowded, and prices can be higher. During May to November brings higher humidity and occasional rain showers. The benefit is fewer crowds and better deals on flights and hotels.

Kudadoo Maldives Private Island: This resort features overwater villas, with own private pool and direct access to the stunning turquoise waters. From gourmet dining to water sports, nearly everything is included in the initial cost. The activities include sailing, private sandbank picnic, dolphin expedition, etc. A private seaplane is also available to and from Male International Airport. But what I like most is their commitment to the environment and community. Their solar cells power the resort and all wood have been sustainably sourced.

The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort: Situated on the private Vommuli Island, this resort offers honeymooners a secluded setting surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Each overwater or beach villa is designed with a blend of modern luxury and traditional Maldivian architecture with direct access to the ocean. Grace Hotel Santorini: The hotel is perched on the renowned Caldera in the village of Imerovigli, offering stunning panoramic views of the Aegean Sea, the volcanic islands, and the world-famous Santorini sunset. Imerovigli is the highest point of the Caldera cliffs, between the towns of Fira (Santorini’s capital) and Oia (busier with more shops & restaurants). You can easily walk to Fira (20 minutes walk) or take a taxi to Oia (15 minutes). But I personally thought Imerovigli offered a better view. The honeymooners may also enjoy the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. You will definitely love the beautiful 22-meter infinity pool. They offer various rooms and suites which are elegantly decorated with the Santorini signature all-white interiors. Most rooms offer a plunge pool and a terrace. Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel & Spa: The was originally a 17th-century monastery and has been meticulously transformed into a luxurious hotel while preserving its architectural and cultural heritage. You will notice this as you approach the stonewall entrance and a belfry. The terraced gardens are particularly beautiful in the spring. It’s located in the fishing village of Conca dei Marini. It’s a quieter village, but you can get down to the beach club or visit the Emerald Grotto (Grotta dello Smeraldo). There are some good seafood restaurants near the beach club. They provide daily shuttle service to Amalfi (10 minutes drive) if you want a bit of action. Some rooms have a terrace. Outdoor pool, gym, and spa are also available. A Michelin star restaurant Il Refettorio offering a Campania cuisine. Wedding reception can be arranged.

Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, Amalfi Coast: I love Belmond brand, so I may be biased. But this is truly a romantic and luxurious hotel fit for honeymooners. Housed in a former palace dating back to the 11th century, the hotel exudes a timeless elegance that reflects the rich history of the Amalfi Coast. Located in the heart of Ravello, a charming vibrant village, the hotel has classic elegance throughout. The suites are spacious with unique furniture, arts and four-poster beds.
